Stephen Thomas "Steve" Moreland

Stephen "Steve" Thomas Moreland, age 70, of Gainesville, GA, peacefully passed away on December 5, 2025. Born on September 23, 1955, in Rome, GA, he was the cherished son of Thomas Douglas Moreland and Evelyn Moreland, both of whom preceded him in death.
Steve spent his early years in Georgia and later attended Georgia Tech, graduating in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. His professional journey began at Southern Railroad, where he worked for ten years. He then continued his engineering career as a consultant at Moreland Engineering, Inc., and later had the honor of serving as Vice President of Moreland Altobelli Associates, Inc., working alongside his father and contributing meaningfully to the field he loved.
On June 17, 1978, Steve married Allison Reaves, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted 47 years. Together, they built a vibrant life filled with adventure and joy. For 22 years, they traveled the country in their RV, exploring the landscapes of America. Steve also found great happiness boating on Lake Lanier, spending treasured time with family and friends, and taking daily walks with his most recently beloved dog, Max.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Allison; his loving sisters, Vickie Moreland, Melissa Bourbeau and husband Brian, and Holly Moreland; and his brother-in-law, John Reaves. He will be fondly remembered by his, aunt, Sandra Stewart; nephews, Philip Reaves, Sam Reaves, Tom Moreland-Smith, and Bonner Bourbeau, and his nieces, Laura Tevis and Clancy Bourbeau and aunt, Sandra Stewart.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Stephen's life-a life marked by kindness, integrity, and quiet generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to a local charity that reflects Stephen's love for his community and his passion for engineering.
Stephen Moreland's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed, and his life will be remembered with gratitude and joy.
