Stephen Pratt

Stephen Gregory Pratt, age 69, died on September 19, 2025 due to West Nile virus encephalitis. Steve grew up in Fairfax, VA, just outside of Washington, DC. He attended MIT, graduating with a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering and worked at Honeywell for over 30 years as a research engineer. Music was an integral part of Steve's life. He sang with the Minnesota Chorale for over 25 years, played bass clarinet with The 1st John Philip Sousa Memorial Band (Edina city band) for 45 years, and loved playing the piano, particularly his 1929 Steinway grand piano. Steve's other great love was cycling which he did year round almost every day. He gave his all in whatever he was doing, whether it was to help a friend with a project, tutoring math at St Louis Park high school or scooping cookie dough in the bakery at Open Arms. He was a cherished husband and devoted dog dad. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his dog, Bella; his siblings, and extended family. He was an outstanding human and will be greatly missed by everyone in his life. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to The Minnesota Chorale or Open Arms of Minnesota. Celebration of Life will be November 8, 2025 at 11:00am, First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, 900 Mount Curve Ave.
