Stephen Randall Preston, 77, of Anniston entered into eternal rest on May 31, 2025 with his wife at his side at Regional Medical Center in Anniston after an extended illness. Services will be announced at a later date.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Amanda Yencha Preston; brothers Ronnie Preston (Lillian) and Mike Preston (Lutricia); several nieces, nephews and friends; and his beloved cats Mario, Timothy, and Sasha.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Curtis Preston and Francis Myrl Smith Preston; sisters Linda Catherine Preston; and brothers James Arthur Preston and Dennis Gary Preston.
There is not a soul in this world that Steve Preston did not love-- nor did he ever meet anyone who did not love him in return. He was devoted to his family and remained at home with his parents through their advancing years and numerous health ailments until they passed peacefully while God allowed him to remain beside them.
He and his wife Amanda were blessed with 20 years of marriage, 25 years together as a couple, and a lifetime of memories for which they both give honor to God, their Christian faith, and unwavering loyalty to each other. He loved and doted on his beloved pets of whom there are too many to name, but each held a special place in his heart. He cherished his neighbors, his church family, and his community. He was always willing to help in any way he could. He could often be seen visiting elderly citizens, delivering recorded copies of church services to shut-ins, and volunteering for projects within the Anniston area to make our community a better place.
He was a dedicated employee who remained with the same company for 35 years until his retirement in 2018.
He was servant of God and Jesus Christ. He was a family caregiver. He was a poet. A clown. A musician. A helper. He was a son. A brother. A husband. An uncle. A pet lover. A friend.
He was Love-- demonstrated according to God's definition in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8-- and that Love was returned to him tenfold by everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Calhoun County Humane Society, 1201 Parkwood Dr, Anniston AL 36201; Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County, 1431 Gurnee Avenue, Anniston AL 36201; St. Michael's Medical Clinic, 426 Mulberry Ave, Anniston, AL 36201; or to a non-profit of your choice.
