Stephen John Roberts

Stephen John Roberts, known affectionately as Steve, passed away on June 10, 2025, in Saugus, MA, at the age of 66. Born on October 22, 1958, in Somerville, MA, Steve was a lifelong resident of Massachusetts and a cherished member of his community.
Steve graduated from Somerville High School and dedicated many years of service as a mail room coordinator. Beyond his professional life, Steve was deeply involved in local sports. He was an umpire for the Boston Ticker Tape Softball League and enjoyed playing softball, darts, and keno. His love for collecting sports cards, his obsession for rearranging the basement and being the best Papa to his grandchildren were among his favorite pastimes.
Steve was a fun-loving family man, always there for anyone who needed him. His love for New England sports was unparalleled, bringing joy and excitement to every game watched with family and friends.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Christine Roberts; daughter, Tara Coughlin, and her husband, Jeremiah; granddaughters, Avery and Paige Coughlin; sisters, Virginia Hinds and Joanne Cochran, and her husband, Ed; sister-in-law, Theresa Roberts; brother-in-law, Jay Theodore and his wife Pamela; Christines children Melissa Hurley, and her husband Jay; Brendan and Johnathan Smith and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly. Steve was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Roberts of 33 years; his mother, Eileen Roberts; brother, Joe Roberts; his sister, Anne Smith; her husband, Smitty and father Owen Roberts.
Boston Cremation in Malden, Mass is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Boston Cremation, 287 Main St. Malden. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Somerville Little League, an organization close to Steves heart, reflecting his passion for sports and youth engagement. Steves life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, as a pillar of strength, love, and reliability in his community.
