Stephen Schwebler passed away suddenly on November 22nd. He was 95 years old. He was born on December 5th, 1928, to Phillip Schwebler and Elizabeth Schwebler (Pratscher) in Flemington, New Jersey.
He spent his early childhood in Brooklyn and New Jersey before moving with his parents to Greenville, New York as an adolescent. He met the love of his life, Marian, and they married on May 2nd, 1953. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary.
For years Steve worked in garages in Coxsackie as a skilled mechanic before returning to college and graduating with a degree in chemistry. After that he worked for New York State in labs for the Health Department and Environmental Conservation and finally for New York State Thruway Authority.
When not working during the week Steve also pursued his interest in music playing his accordion and keyboard. In 1962 he formed a band called The Tuneweavers with bandmates Ralph Campoli on drums and Ralph Barger on guitar. They performed at many area events including many weddings.
Steve was also active as church deacon and organist at New Baltimore Reformed Church and a volunteer at Vedder Research Library in Coxsackie.
He loved and was loved by his family. He loved his home in Hannacroix, the New York Yankees, and going on motorcycle rides.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Marian Schwebler, children Brad Schwebler (Donna), Susan Meyer (Clifford), and Nancy Schwebler, grandchildren Kelly Hoffman (Frank), Beth Pickup (Jeremy), Kristy Kellerhouse (Shawn), and Shawn Schwebler (Theresa), and 15 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Phillip Schwebler, his sister Katie Flach, and his sister Betty Flach.

Sympathies to the Schwebler family. His mother visited with my Grandmother, Christina Schwebler Gutwein many summers in my childhood. He looks like my grandmother. He has her smile. Didi Martin. My mother was Elizabeth Gutwein and my Aunt Dottie kept in contact until her death in 2008. Christina passed away in 1977. My mother passed away in 1975.
