Stephen Stallings Obituary

Published by Tulsa World from Dec. 4 to Dec. 5, 2008.
STALLINGS - Stephen R., 65, was called Home early in the morning of December 2, 2008. While he will be sorely missed, his rest after his valiant battle against cancer was dearly earned. He was friend and brother to so many and loved and respected by all who knew him. A man's success is often measured in this world by personal wealth or achievement - a better barometer would be the number of people who loved him, which makes Steve one of the most successful people I've ever known. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Melrose Stallings and his brother, Winston Dix Stallings. He leaves behind: his loving wife, Margaret (along with Princess and Smokey); his daughter, Terri and her husband, Patrick Glass and their children, Zachary and Zoie; he also leaves his son, Tony Stallings; and his dear sister, Marilyn and her husband, Gary Deaton. Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2008 at Moore's Southlawn. Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 91st & Harvard. Moore's Southlawn, 663-2233, share memories at www.moorefuneral.com. Stephen R. Stallings

Margie & family, my sincere condolences to you on the loss of your loved one. I knew Steve since the 8th grade and I , like you, will miss him terribly. He fought a good fight and has now taken heed of the words of General Stonewall Jackson. . ."let us cross over the river and rest under the shade of the trees." Rest well my friend, we will join you soon.

I went to school with Steve in Piggott and was in the band with him. He was a good friend and a sweet boy. Marilyn, you are in my thoughts as you cope with this loss.

Margie, Words alone cannot express how sorry we are that Steve is gone. We know how hard he fought the battle against cancer, but he now can rest in peace. We will remember him always as a life-long friend. You and he had 35 years together where you loved, laughed and had a lovely time. Remember those happy memories in the long days ahead. Our sincere condolences to you and family.

I used to live in the same neighborhodd as Steve when I was a young boy. In the Piggott Community we are all part of the same family. We all share in your loss and wish your family the healing only God can offer.

I grew up in Piggott with Steve. I didn't know him well, just as a schoolmate. But I send my best wishes and sympathy to his loved one.
