Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory - OwensboroStephen Wayne Thompson, 65, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The Daviess County native was born December 11, 1959, to the late Tilford Thompson and Rhetta Stivers Thompson. Steve graduated from Daviess County High School with the class of 1977 and attended OCC and WKU where he participated in their drama programs. He was an avid UK fan and loved all kinds of music. You wanted Steve on your team when you played trivia, especially when it pertained to music or movies. Steve was also the author of two published books. He took tremendous pride in his vocation as a drivers license examiner for the Kentucky State Police where his favorite saying was “No, your other left!”
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 26 years, Diana Howard Thompson; daughter, Beth Miller (Kurt) of Tiline; grandchild, Ira Eliott Jaffe (Poet Cook) of Lexington; several aunts and cousins; his two fur babies, Heidi and Sophie.
The funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday, August 21 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 pm and Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Island Methodist Church Cemetery.
