STEPHEN J. WEST, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024. Devoted husband to the late Joanne (nee Leeds). Loving father to Stephen West and wife Monica and Maryann Sibel and husband Mike. Beloved grandfather to Sarah, Stephen, Brianna and Brendan, and beloved great grandfather to Charlotte. Dear brother to his late sister Joan.
Steve graduated from Dobbins High School in 1956 where he excelled in Baseball, Soccer and Track and Field. As a movie usher, he met his future wife Joanne, spent a few years in the Army and married in 1960. Steve spent his entire working career in auto parts, first selling then managing Wislawn Auto Parts in Germantown, PA. Even in retirement he worked part time in the business. As a young father, he enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and bowling. In his spare time, he loved to metal detect in and around the suburbs of Philadelphia and enjoyed day trips to the beach with his family. He also made numerous trips to Clearwater Florida.
In his later years, Steve enjoyed his four grandchildren (and great granddaughter) and their activities.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 9:00AM until 10:00AM at Louis A. DiGiacomo Funeral Home Inc., 1055 Southampton Road, Phila., PA 19116, followed by his funeral mass 10:30AM at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116. Interment with US Army Honors will follow in William Penn Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Christopher Church at the above address.
