Steve "Pap" Hammonds, age 90, of London, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
He leaves behind five children, Joe Hammonds & wife Audrey, Dennis Hammonds & wife Cheryl, Wayne Sherman, James Hammonds, all of London, KY, Carrie Smith & husband Chuck of Lily, KY; twelve grandchildren, Dana Davis & husband Jeff, Brooke Grigsby & husband Daniel, Brenda Baker, Ashley Smith, Megan Webb & husband Dustin, Jordan Hammonds & wife Emily, Michael Hammonds & wife Catherine, Justin Hammonds & wife Brooke, Steve Smith, Matthew Sherman, Jessica Sherman, Hayleigh Smith, Ryan Smith, Richard Smith, Bradley Smith; two step-grandchildren, John Barnett & wife Laura, Tracy Kaye & husband Matt; thirteen great-grandchildren, Maleah Hammonds, Kylie Davis, Brooklyn Smith, Aubree Webb, Paisley Webb, Gracie Hammonds, Axyl Hammonds, Ayden Hammonds, Adelyn Hammonds, Maddie Grisby, Brayden Kaye, John Blue Barnett, Beau Barnett; plus, a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jean Barbara Brown Hammonds; his parents, Joe Hammonds & Emma Noe Hammonds; six siblings, Jay Hammonds, Roy Hammonds, Maude Stanford, Maxine Martin, Thena Bruner, Clara Johns.
Steve retired from Chaney Lumber Company. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.
Pap was a beloved father and grandfather who loved to work outside. He enjoyed gardening, mowing lawns, hunting and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and loved to entertain others and left behind many wonderful memories for all family and friends to remember and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral service celebrating the life of Steve "Pap" Hammonds will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Hershel Walker & Shane Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Hammonds cemetery in London, KY. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 17, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service hour, also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
