Widower of Patti Lamfers in 2020. Survived by Michael Lynn Lamfers and family of Milliken, CO and Jeffrey Alan Lamfers and family of Fort Collins, CO.
Steve was a man of steel and velvet. At a moment notice he would step in to help and do a project. He was not afraid of how dirty, nasty, hot, cold or how long it was he was there. He loved his family with a dedication and passion that is awe inspiring. A great example for us to try and follow.
Steve loved to go fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. Many many weekends were enjoyed on he lake and in the woods. His work ethic is another example of "I know it sucks, do it anyway". Other phrases were "bahh that was only 10 foot up, straighten your knee back out and get up there", "hospital for what, rub some dirt on it, it will be fine".
Steve was not a guy who liked being the center of attention. As little fuss as possible even to his end. "I suppose you should get some friends together if we have to, blue jeans and camo though no no no silly suits and ties".
Steve was very proud of his time in the 101st Airborne. It was very rare to see him without his hat on. He even got a tattoo late in life with the 101 Airborne emblem.
He will be sorely missed by all. May he have rest and peace. I am sure he is out fishing with mom by now. Saying hi to all who have gone before him. Mike and I agree we will do as he taught and showed us, how to be steel when you need and velvet when you have those with you.
