Steve “Uncle Buck” Sandberg, 74, of Humboldt, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Algona.
He was born March 26, 1949 in Fort Dodge, the son of Okey and Irene (Smith) Sandberg. He grew up in Fonda then at a young age moved with his family to Humboldt where he was raised and educated, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1968. He attended Westmar College in LeMars where he played football then returned to Humboldt where he became a sales representative for Watkins Products. He made and sold numerous crafts over the years and later was employed as a dairy manager for the Humboldt Hy-Vee Store. Steve was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Football fan his entire life, enjoyed ranching every year with his cousins in Nebraska, watching old westerns on TV, walking local trails and at the Humboldt Rec Center. He always had time for his nieces and nephews and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Family functions were always a priority.
Steve is survived by his sister Nadine (Gordy) Odor of Dakota City, nephew and nieces Mike (Michelle) Odor of Urbandale, Missy Odor of Humboldt and Morgan (Aaron) Tacker of Ankeny, his great nieces and nephews Chase Nelson, Cambry Nelson, Macklyn Tacker and McCoy Tacker. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 24th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. followed by a 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service, both at Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Come and share your Hawkeye Pride by wearing Black & Gold. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 25th at Cedar Cemetery, Fonda. www.masonlindhart.com
