Steve Snopek Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Steve Snopek, 87. He passed peacefully at General Hospital on Christmas Day to join our mother, Annmurray. The days leading up to his passing he was surrounded by his family and partner, Faith Angulas who he loved very much. He is survived by his children Sheri Ruland, Michael Snopek, Bonnie (John) Klein, Kristie (Mike Bloomer) Holden; grandchildren Scott (Licia) Ruland, Amanda Ruland, John Joseph Klein, and Zachary Holden; one great grandchild Kierstin Ruland; his sister Hilda Wood, sister-in-law Beryle Snopek and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Annmurray who he shared 53 years of marriage, his parents, Marcel & Hilda Snopek, in-laws, Melvin, Pauline & Hazel Bostwick, and family, Agnes Snopek, Marcella & George Braunbeck, Lottie & Gordon Hill, Joe & Sarah Snopek, Josephine & Edward Kika, Hank Snopek, and Richard Wood. Our father was born in Binghamton in 1936 and attended Binghamton Central High School. He joined the Army after graduating in 1955 where he became a drill instructor. Growing up he played CYO basketball for St. Cyril's parish. He played many years of fast pitch softball and enjoyed bowling with many friends. Later in life he took up golfing where he and his four friends would play every Tuesday. He enjoyed watching golf as well as watching the Yankees play. We would like to thank the staff at General Hospital for such good care during his last days as well as UHS in Norwich and the VA in Oxford where he spent the last couple of months.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at S.S. Cyril and Methodius Church, 148 Clinton Street, Binghamton on Friday January 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Steve's name can be made to NYS Oxford Veterans Home, Attn: Administrative Services, 4207 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830-4101. Services provided by the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton.

Steve was a great friend of my uncle Doug Wagner, and my mom, Helen Taylor, whom he went through school with and shared so many laughs with.
Steve was my first boss during a summer between semesters at Chenango Industries. He always had a funny story and a warm-hearted smile. Steve was a gem that shone so brightly.
My mom and I visited him this past spring at his home where we shared memories with him and had a chance to see him laugh.
We have wonderful memories because of you, Steve! Fly high and watch over all whom you love, as you are with the angels in heaven. You will always be in our hearts.
