Steven Wayne Wiker, age 60 and a resident of Safford, entered into rest Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025, at the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Steven Wayne Wiker was born May 4, 1964, in San Diego, California. If you knew Steve, you knew a kind, gentle soul. He was always giving and expecting nothing in return.
Steve grew up in San Diego, where he loved golfing, bowling, and played baseball. His biggest passion was fishing, especially at Grant Lake in the High Sierra's, Lake Julain and Lake Cuyamaca. He did deep sea fishing while living on a sailboat in Mexico. Steve also enjoyed backpacking in Europe with his grandmother. Later in life he took up cooking and was extremely good at it.
Steve was a third generation San Diego School District employee. He retired early due to health issues and joined family in Arizona in 2008, where he lived caring for his elderly parents. His mother, Carol Wiker, preceded him in death in 2024.
Steve had a great sense of humor and indomitable spirit that would never give up, even in the face of constant health issues. He persevered always helping family. Steve always made people feel cared about.
Steve is survived by: his father, Ivan Wiker; two sisters, Jena Wilson (Gary), Sandi Craig; his niece, Charleen Arazaté; two nephews, Wyatt Henderson and Eric Henderson (Sarah); and his great-niece, AJ Arazaté. His presence in their lives will be greatly missed.
