Steven "Steve" Batt, age 76, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 8, 2025. He was born December 20, 1948, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Harlen and Jane (Paul) Batt.
A 1967 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Steve was proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout and later served as a Trustee Emeritus of Ducks Unlimited. On August 14, 1971, he married Denise Chapman, and together they built a wonderful life and raised their son, Ryan.
Steve worked in the architectural engineering field. He was an avid fan of the Iowa State Cyclones and the New York Yankees and enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, and appreciating the outdoors. Above all, Steve cherished time with his family. He was a proud husband, a devoted and supportive father, and a loving and proud grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Lintzman and Elizabeth Thompson; father and mother-in-law, Gerald "Babe" Chapman and Jeanette Chapman - Riso; and brother-in-law, Rodney Harter.
Steve is survived by his wife of 54 years, Denise (Chapman) Batt; son, Ryan (Nikki) Batt; 4 grandchildren, Brittnee White, Blake Steven Batt, Cooper Anderson, Baylee Batt; brothers, Robert (Tere) Batt, and John (Susan) Batt; brother- in- laws, Steve (Karol) Chapman, James (Ellen) Chapman and Michael Chapman; sister-in laws, Carol (Robert) Comeau, Jane (Dennis) Hough and Julie Harter, Michelle (David) Cleasby; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The family will direct memorials.
