Steven was born and raised in the Oakley and Arden sections of Asheville, where he graduated from T.C. Roberson High School. At the age of 19, Steven trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. From then on, he strove to live for the Lord and serve Him. In 1993, Steven announced his call from God to preach the Gospel. Then in 1995, he and his wife, Tanya were married and have spent over 25 years in the ministry together, mainly focused on the youth of America. He became aware of his cancer in late 2022 and had fought it for almost two years, but he is now in Heaven, his eternal home, where he has always longed to be.
Steven was a man of deep faith and a member of Mission Baptist Church in Waynesville, NC. He loved being in church and worshipping the Lord and he loved and appreciated his family, church family, and friends.
Surviving him are his wife, Tanya Blankenship; his son and daughter-in-law, Isaac and Savana Blankenship; his father and step-mother, Eddie and Kathy Blankenship; his mother, Virginia Blankenship; his siblings, Keith Blankenship and family, Catherine French and family, Angie Low and family, Wendy Scopes, and family.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, July 21, 2024, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Rick Gibson will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Emma's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fletcher.

I remember what a rock and sense of stability Bro. Blankenship and Ms Tanya were to me as a teen ager as well as a young adult. I thanked God for you, Bro Blankenship and trust through Jesus Christ to shortly thank God with you!
