Steven L. Buzzard

Steve-O (Steven) L. Buzzard passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of October 23, 2025, at the age of 76, exactly as he wanted, in his sleep and at 'home' – Scenic View Personal Care, Palmerton, PA. He was born in General Hospital, East Stroudsburg, PA on February 23, 1949. Born, raised and loved living in Monroe County until a truck - that was 100% in his lane - hit him head on, December 29, 2016, while he was on his way home from work. He never was able to return home, walk again, get out of bed on his own, or do the daily things we all take for granted, by himself. He remained a quadriplegic the rest of his life, he died due to complications from quadriplegia. He said, "be thankful for what you have you never know when it will be snatched away!"

He was predeceased by his father William H. Buzzard 1980; his mother Alma (Gehrig) Buzzard 2004; and dearest friend and beloved companion Janet Shiffer 2011.

He worked for Sebring's Power house as a small engine repair mechanic "par excellence", master of fixing just about any engine or piece of equipment that had an engine, that you could imagine, from the end of January 1968 (while still in High School) until December 2007 when they switched over to Cramer's who he worked for until the accident December 29, 2016. He was inducted into the National Honor Society of Secondary Schools, April 18, 1968 and graduated from Stroudsburg High School June 9, 1968. He was a member of Yesterday's Children Motorcycle club for around 10 years, loved riding and owned several motorcycles. He loved history, especially the history of the wars and presidents but loved learning and discussing facts and details about almost anything. He read the encyclopedia through cover to cover when he was younger - twice - and then went back to re-read things that had really interested him!! He still enjoyed reading and discussing anything about the wars, Lancaster Farmer newspaper, Smithsonian Institute magazine, history magazine and several science magazines. He had a great sense of humor, cared deeply for his friends and family, had a very loving heart and felt unconditionally loved and extraordinarily well cared for by the staff, "who were some of the people closest to my heart", at Scenic View Personal Care for the last 5 years 5 months.

The following is mostly Steven's words, dictated – with the more 'colorful' language edited. Steve-O is Survived by and will be deeply missed by many people and pets he loved and who loved him – but especially, "Melissa Levan – beloved friend, caregiver, nurse, person who could make me laugh and smile (even when I was grumpy) adopted daughter, Administrator of Scenic View Personal Care, in his life for the last almost 7 years and Donna Conklin who I called "my PIA" instead of POA (pain in ass to everyone so I got the care I needed but sometimes pia to me too) who stuck with me the last almost 9 years, who kept all the details of my life in order for me and paid my bills - don't know what I would have done since the accident, without either of these amazing women in my life; Bandit -"Mr. Kitty" and Dexter "the pup"; all those who work at/or worked at Scenic View personal care who took me into their hearts and loved me unconditionally – who I loved right back, ok so I didn't say it but they knew; several residents but especially John W who I had great conversations with; steadfast friends - Don Fuller coming many many Sunday's (and other days too) with breakfast sandwiches, Danny McConnell who I knew since 1968, Rocky Hahn 'the farmer' I loved talking with and Joanne Sebring ice tea provider and encourager; Tracy Shiffer-Silfee, Brenda Shiffer and Donna Sutton my companion's daughters that I loved and had a real soft spot for who visited me and brought stuff for Mr. Kitty and me; everyone who helped clean out my house for me to be able to sell; my sister Fay D. Palmer Verona, PA who faithfully called me almost every week; brother, Bruce W Buzzard (Lisa) Stroudsburg, PA and their children Evan, Jessica and Lucas."

Arrangements and cremation are being made through William H Clark Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of my friends who became family.

In Lieu of flowers – Steve-O, Steve, Steven – would ask you "make a donation to your favorite charity in his name if you feel like it or go have a good time while appreciating all the good stuff you have in your life."
