Steven R. Cooper, 78, a resident of Round Lake Beach, IL, unexpectedly passed away February 7, 2025, at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, IL. He was born February 14, 1946, in Elkhart, IN to Robert and Betty Cooper.
Steve graduated Purdue University in 1972 with a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology and was employed with Switchcraft in Chicago for over 25 years, where he was Vice President of Engineering. He enjoyed fishing, gambling, traveling, collecting hats, and spending time with his loving family.
Steve is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dorothy Cooper, his children George (Angela) Cooper, Rachel (Josh) Sittler, and Lisa (Andy) Griffel, his grandchildren Alex, Jana, Magnum, Riley, Corey, and Jack. His sister Pat (John) Gonser, his mother-in-law Patsy S. Jones, his sister-in-law's Elisha Sharp, Shelby Cooper, Diane Cooper, and Peggy Cooper, his brother-in-law Bill (Denise) Jones III. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Tom, Bob, and Bill Cooper. Also preceded in death by his father-in-law William Jones, Jr.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 10:00am at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow the services at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville, IL.
