Steven Michael Downs Sr.

Steven Michael Downs, 58, lifelong resident of East End in Superior, passed away after a short illness on Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home in Superior, WI. He was born to John and Carol (Jacobson) Downs on December 29, 1965, in Superior, WI.
He worked as a carpenter for many years in the Superior area. Steven was well respected for his woodworking skills. It was important to Steven that his work was top class.
He was known as a warm-hearted man with an infectious smile that instantly made friends with those he met. Game days would find him rooting for the Vikings, loudly. He followed the NASCAR circuit and collected Dale Earnhardt memorabilia. In his free time, Steven loved to ice fish on Lake Superior. Snowmobiling was another winter activity that he enjoyed. He loved to be surrounded by friends and family, especially around bonfires frequently hosted at his home.
Steven is survived by his son, Steven Downs, Jr., Superior; mother, Carol Downs, Pittsville, WI; brothers: John Downs Pittsville, WI, and Greg Downs, Gordon, WI; sister Jodie Downs, Superior; granddaughters Novalee and Oaklee; canine companion, Bella; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father John (Jack) Downs, and girlfriend of 27 years, Tracy Thompson.
Should friends desire, memorials or donations will be used to help offset expenses for the family and can be sent to the funeral home c/o Steven Downs, Jr.
A Celebration of Life for Steven will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home,1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM service with Gary Banker officiating.
