It is with respect and remembrance that we announce the passing of Mr. Steven Joseph DuPont. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Steve graduated from Stall High School, and attended Trident Technical College and Gulf Coast College. He dedicated over 40 years to Civil Service, working at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in Charleston, South Carolina, and later transferring to Tyndall AFB in Panama City, Florida. He was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and straightforward approach, earning the respect of his colleagues throughout his long career.
Outside of work, Steve enjoyed going to the beach, DIY'ing projects at home, and telling dad jokes, but above all, he loved watching Alabama football, never missing a game and always cheering on the Crimson Tide, even in the bad times. Saturdays in the fall were reserved for football watching, stat research, obsessing, and general unbridled enthusiasm for his team.
Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Richard DuPont, his father, Dean Floyd DuPont Sr, and his mother, Sylvia Jane DuPont. He is survived by his daughters, Sara Sweatman (Courtland) and Amy DuPont Snyder (Matt), his son, Beau DuPont, his granddaughter, Conley Jane Sweatman, brother Dean DuPont Jr (Illissa) and sister Lisa DuPont Holley, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held to honor his life at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home at 2403 Harrison Avenue, Panama City, Florida 32405, on Saturday, 6/28/2025, at 11am CST. The family will receive visitors starting at 10am CST. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Steven, please visit our floral store.
