Steven Plato Eliades, also known as Sotiri, passed away unexpectedly at his Hopewell Junction, New York, home on January 9. He was 58.
Steven was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend. Born on October 24, 1965, in Hackensack, New Jersey, he was the youngest of three children (and was affectionately known by his big sister as "brat"). He was a mischievous child, who challenged his siblings and parents with his antics - and there were many. At a young age, Steven developed a passion for music, even teaching himself how to play the guitar. He was quick-witted and could find the fun in anything.
Inspired by his parents' unwavering support and encouragement to get an education, Steven first attended Kent State University before transferring to Castleton University in Vermont, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree. He went on to receive his Master's degree from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Upon graduation, Steven worked a series of jobs in the computer securities industry before ultimately meeting the love of his life, Jeanne, at Pernot Ricard.
Steven said goodbye to Jeanne, his wife, in 2021. Jeanne's passing changed his life forever, and he was never the same. In the last two years, Steven struggled to find his way - ever hopeful, while his love for her never waned.
Steven lived life to the fullest, and left an inimitable mark on all who met him. His legacy will not soon be forgotten.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia Eliades; his brother, Paris Eliades, and his wife, Ginny; his sister Niki Quinn, and her husband, Michael; his numerous nieces and nephews, and countless cousins, neighbors, and friends. He is predeceased by his wife, Jeanne Eliades, and his father, Plato Eliades.
A visitation will be held on Jan. 14, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main St. Fishkill, NY. A funeral service will be held on Jan. 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wyckoff, N.J., followed by a burial at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.

His Light was brighter than many. His family Values and Love was an example for us all. He was accepting and forgiving. I will Never forget them both and will live my time with a smile as I remember and a tears as time goes by.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of my good friend, Steve. He was my brother Tom's best friend, and therefore, I always considered him to be my fourth brother. I have so many precious memories of Steve at our house, growing up. We spent hours talking about music. He was so kind to me and my sister and never had a bad word to say about anyone. I always admired his love of family and his devotion to Jeanne, his beloved wife. I will pray for his soul and take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his wife and father. All my love, Maureen Gordon Nelson
