Steven Scott Friend

Steven Scott Friend, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2024, at the age of 63. He was born on June 15, 1960, in Lancaster, Ohio
Steven was a determined individual who cultivated a strong work ethic from a young age. After graduating from Fairfield Union High School in 1978, he embarked on a successful farming career that spanned several decades and extended into the past 4 generations of the Friend family. A true steward of the land, Steven was passionate about agriculture and dedicated countless hours to nurturing his farm. As a grain merchandiser for Interstate Commodities, he showcased his expertise and contributed to the growth of the industry.
Steve was known for his sense of humor and his distinctive laugh. Beyond his work, Steven was an active member of the Bremen Community Methodist Church, where his warm voice resonated in the church choir. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Rushville Union Lions Club, continuously seeking ways to make a positive impact in the lives of his community members.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Ross (Morgan) Friend and Tessa Friend, who brought joy and fulfillment to his life. Steven was also blessed with the arrival of his granddaughter, Hallie Jo Friend, who captured his heart from the moment she entered this world. He is survived by his sister, Connie Smith, and her husband, Stan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Tragically, Steven was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cinda Jo Friend, on January 24, 2021. Theirs was a 49 year love story that transcended time, and her loss was deeply felt by Steve and all who knew them.
A time to visit with Steve's family will be Wednesday, January 17th from 5 – 8 PM at the Bremen Community Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry Street, Bremen. Funeral service will take place Thursday, January 18th at 11 AM in the church with Pastor Linda Ward officiating. Contributions in Steve's memory may be made to the Bremen Community Methodist Church for choir needs or the Rushville Union Lions Club.
