Steven Wayne Opdahl was born March 3rd, 1962, in Fosston, MN to parents Ardell and Lloyd Opdahl.
Steven grew up in Oklee and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Church. He had a love of sports and played varsity basketball for Oklee High School and was part of a softball league with his peers.
After high school, Steven began his college career where he first attended Northland College in Thief River Falls and graduated with an Accounting degree. Later, Steven went to Thief River Falls Technical College for Computer Technology but was hired out by IBM before graduating where he spent most of his adult life working.
Steven was mostly a quiet person but a family first kind of man, someone who was always willing to help out and was very well liked by all his friends. He moved home to visit and care for Ardell and Lloyd after they moved to assisted living where he made sure to visit every week.
At home, he would spend his time watching sports on TV (Vikings, Twins, and Timberwolves were his favorite teams). He would join a family game of cards providing the sports channel was visible from his spot at the table.
Steven passed away on May 9th, 2023 and is preceded in death by his parents and brother (Ardell, Lloyd, and Jerome).
Steven is survived by his brother Lyle (Wendy) Opdahl and their daughters - Nikki Opdahl, and Jessica (Chase) Brooks and their son - Cohen Opdahl Brooks. Brother Clyde (Wanda) Opdahl and their daughter - Angela (Dennis) Torkelson and son Travis (Alexis Moe) Torkelson. Wanda's son - Ron (Tanya) Engesether and children - Bailey and Logan Engesether. Wanda's son - Brandon (Sara) Wilson and sons Dylan, Ethan, and Jack Wilson.
The family would like to thank all friends and family for all of your loving support. We ask you to join us in prayer to stop violence and to pray no other family has to bear such a senseless loss.
