Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 2 pm through 7 pm in the Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ 07068, shookfarmer.com. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11 am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland, NJ. Cremation will be private.
Born in Montclair, he grew up in Bloomfield, lived in South Orange, Cedar Grove, Edison, Passaic, and settled in Oceanport over 10 years ago. Steven honorably served in the US Air Force from 1974 through 1980. For many years, he was the Director of Public Safety in South Orange and later he served as Police Chief of Irvington, retiring in 2008.
Pre-deceased by his mother, Josephine Scanniello Palamara and his brothers, Leo Palamara and Gerald Palamara.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Camille Corda Palamara; father, Leo Carl Palamara; daughters, Caitlin Aldahondo and her husband Wilson and Elizabeth Palamara; stepsons, Matthew and Finn; grandchildren, Vanessa and James; and sister, Jean Palamara. Also surviving are a host of extended relatives and longtime friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.

I cant beleive Friday will be a year that your gone, I miss our talks and working together talking about all the crazy things that happen on your lock outs and miss the great advise you offered me. Its crazy how you knew my Dad from years ago while working in Irvington by my dad's yard. There will never be another boss like you, I miss you so much but I know that your at peace now with no more pain. Till we meet again Steve, rest easy and keep your wings over all the people who loved you and miss you dearly especially me. XO

Heaven gained a true angel, my boss for the past 8 years, Court Officer Passaic County, he was so much more then a boss to me he was like a father and I am truly heartbroken!!. Rest in Peace Steve, thanks for always being there for me, your friendship and guidance through the years will never be forgotten and the memories will remain deep within my heart. We lost a great man here. My condolences and prayers go out to the Palamara family. Chief Palamara was the one who called and hired me for the position of police officer and treated me with a great respect all throughout his career with the Irvington PD. Always had the best laughter and humor. I thank you for everything you did for me . You were a man who exemplifies a spirit that cared for everyone you encountered through the good and the bad times.
