Steven Edward Pulliam, 67, of True, WV passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at The Inn at Greystone Village. Following a year's struggle with cancer, he left this earth for his heavenly home surrounded by his immediate family and caring staff. Steve was born on June 12, 1956 in
Long Beach, California to the late Connie Dell Anderson Pulliam and Paul E. Pulliam.
Also preceded in death were Steve's younger brother, Larry Wayne Pulliam and beloved brother-in-law, Brian Sherry from
Georgetown, MA. His mother relocated the young family to Virginia where she met and married Eddie Wrenn of Norfolk. Eddie, who also preceded Steve in death, raised Steve and younger brother, Larry as his own sons.
Steve attended and graduated from Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, despite his proclivity towards mischief versus studies. During this time, Steve attended several church dances at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Norfolk where he met his future wife of 48 years, Camella Marie Langlois. They married in June of 1975, disrupting his time at Virginia Tech's School of Engineering but creating an opportunity to learn the family's business in automobile transmissions. Eventually, Steve opened several successful businesses of his own in Norfolk, VA and two in North Carolina. Steve was widely known for his knowledge and trouble-shooting abilities in the field, even providing design changes to General Motors and Ford. As his family grew with the birth of a much-loved daughter and son, Heather and Billy, his free time became more limited. But, when able, he loved fishing out on the Chesapeake Bay, building and woodworking, long weekend road trips with Cam and the children, his beloved Redskins, and visiting new restaurants. Many years later, Steve purchased land in West Virginia so the couple could build their dream log home in the mountains for enjoyment and future retirement. Steve and late friend, Kurt German, completed all the interior design and woodworking in the home, including the doors that Steve made in his woodworking shop.
Steve is survived by the couple's two children, Heather Marie Pulliam, and husband Brian Turner, William (Billy) Joseph Pulliam, and beloved granddaughter, Lily Marie Wallace, all of Christiansburg, VA. His very special cousins; Charlotte Taylor of
Sherman Oaks, CA, and Jack Anderson and family of Fairbanks, AK, and beloved aunt, Louise Booth of Norfolk, Va. He is also survived by his wife's large family; Teresa Langlois Davis and husband, Roland; Katherine Langlois Danner and husband, Wayne from Chesapeake, VA; Paulette Langlois Culp and husband, Jamie of
Tampa, FL; John Riggs Langlois, Jr. of Norfolk, VA; Annette Sherry of
Newburyport, MA; Christine Langlois Santoni and husband, Tom from Virginia Beach, VA., nineteen nieces and nephews, twelve great-nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew, and many long-time friends.
Cremation services have been provided by Pivont Funeral Home.
Catholic Mass and Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Melanoma
Cancer Society.
