Steven Glenn Rundus, age 65, of Basehor, Kansas, and previously of Hiawatha, KS., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 16th, 2023. Visitation will be 10-11 am, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am, both Friday, Sept. 22nd at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St. Bonner Springs, KS. 66012. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Fellowship West or Village Community Church.
Steve was born on July 13, 1958, in Holton, Kansas, and was the only child born to Glenn & Elaine (Long) Rundus. Most of his childhood was spent in Hiawatha where he graduated from Hiawatha High School in the Class of 1976. Steve then went on to graduate from Highland Community College where he was on the Track team, throwing the Shotput and Discus. He then went to work for Flair Fold in Hiawatha, then Housing Services at the University of Kansas, and finished his working career with over 30 years as a Maintenance Mechanic with the Postal Service in Kansas City, KS. Steve married JoAnn Uber on June 7th, 1980 and together they made their home in Bonner Springs and later Basehor. Steve was known for being a man of few words, but he was tremendously proud of his children and absolutely adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed NASCAR, watching football, riding his Harley-Davidson, Target Shooting, and reminiscing about old times with his family. Even though he has not been in constant contact with his friends, he valued his friends and knew they would always be there for him. He also loved his many pet dogs over the years and enjoyed hours of entertainment watching his most recently loved pup, Thelma Lou during his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepfather Harold Stoner.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn Rundus of the home, and two children: Holly Renfro and husband David and Daniel Rundus and wife Sarah all of Basehor. Six grandchildren: Jolianna, Isaac, Isabelle, Noah, Maddox, and Matthew. As well as other extended family and friends.
