Steven Ronald Scott, 44, of Lafayette, died on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at his home. Born on May 27, 1980, in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Bob and Terri (Stevenson) Scott.
Steve was a true original who lived a life of compassion, exploration, and lifelong learning. A graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School (1998) and Purdue University (2002), Steve's thirst for adventure led him to teach English in South Korea for a year, sparking a love for international travel that took him across Asia and Europe. He loved rock 'n' roll, comic books, games of all kinds, Star Wars, fantasy novels, toy pianos, anime, novelty t-shirts, animals, and especially his family and friends. He had always aspired to be a musician.
For many years, Steve supported adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through his in-home work for Opportunities for Positive Growth. He cared for his father when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and also for his mother through various health issues. He had recently taken a few courses to explore a potential career in healthcare.
Steve will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his compassion for others, his unmatched karaoke performances, unbridled enthusiasm for the good news of others, and the example of a life lived with curiosity, kindness, and the biggest of hearts. His life, though unexpectedly cut short, was rich in experiences and meaningful relationships, and he had a lasting positive impact on the many paths he crossed as a friend, caregiver, traveler, learner, family member, and devoted father.
He is survived by daughters Dahlia and Daphne Scott, as well as their mother, Karen Mitchell, of West Lafayette. He taught his daughters-who meant the world to him-that life is best lived loud, proud, and always in support of others. He hoped their trip across Puerto Rico this summer would create unforgettable memories and pass on his love for adventure. He is also survived by his brother Andrew Scott, sister-in-law Victoria Barrett, and nephews Finn and Ewan Scott (Indianapolis), as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Friends may call at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. in Lafayette, on Saturday, September 28. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the education funds for Steve's daughters, Dahlia A. Scott and Daphne G. Scott. Contributions can be made easily and securely online through UGift529 (https://www.ugift529.com) using the codes 313-Q2X for Dahlia and H7R-M7C for Daphne.
For a more immediate tribute, crank up your favorite album to an unreasonable volume and perform an unexpected act of kindness for a stranger.

I am sorry to hear of Steve´s passing. I was friends with his mother, Terri and met Steve while spending time with her. He was always very caring with his mother and his daughters. I miss his mother and he will be greatly missed too.
