Steven Edward Scribner, a spirited and jovial soul whose love for the outdoors and the exhilarating world of auto racing knew no bounds, passed away at his home in Saint Helen, Michigan, on March 24, 2024. He was 62. Born on August 9, 1961, in Detroit to Eva and Richard, Steven's early years in Clawson, Michigan, were filled with the kind of adventures that would define his zest for life.
A proud graduate of Clawson High School, Class of '79, Steven carved a successful career as a mechanic with Roush in Allen Park, Michigan. His knack for understanding the intricate dance of gears and pistons was second to his ability to breathe life into the engines he loved. Steven retired in 2014, but his passion for mechanics and the roar of an engine never waned.
Steven's love for life wasn't confined to the racetrack or the garage. He was a man who embraced the world with open arms, whether it was the tranquility of fishing, the precision of bowling, or the camaraderie of golfing with friends. Yet, auto racing captured his heart, a testament to his love for speed, innovation, and the sheer joy of competition.
His journey through life was shared with his beloved wife, Lonnie, whom he married on March 18, 1996, in Toledo, Ohio. Together, they navigated the twists and turns of life, their love a constant in the ever-changing landscape. Steven's legacy lives on through his children, Nicole Nickert, Tim (Lauryn) Nickert, Jamie (Chris) Lintz, and his cherished grandchildren, Jackson and Cameron, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Steven's life was enriched by the companionship of his furry friends, Smokey and Bug, and the steadfast support of his siblings Jeff (Shirley), Tim Burns, Rob Burns, Scott (Shelly) Burns, and his nephews Parker and Joel. He was a cherished son to his mother, Eva Joyce (Tim) Burns, whose strength and love shaped him into the man he became.
A celebration of Steven's life, a tribute to the joy, passion, and love he shared with all who knew him, will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM, with a special family sharing at 6:30 PM, at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 North Main St., Clawson, MI 48017. It will be an occasion to share stories, laughter, and maybe a few tears as we honor a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and raced through life with an unwavering spirit of adventure. Steven's legacy is not just in the memories he leaves behind but in the lives he touched, the engines he brought to life, and the trails he blazed on and off the racetrack. His was a life well-lived, and he will be dearly missed.
