Steven Williams Obituary

Steven " Steve" Williams
Born: November 6, 1951
Died: January 23, 2026
Steven Williams, a lifelong resident of Johnsburg and a man known for his gentle spirit, unwavering routines, and deep love for the natural world, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born on November 6, 1951, Steve was the son of the late LaMarr and Christine Williams. He grew up in the heart of Johnsburg, graduating from McHenry High School in 1970. Steve spent many dedicated years working for the Todd family at Jett Concrete. His colleagues remember him not just as a reliable employee, but as a fixture of the local industry who brought a sense of stability and camaraderie to the job.
Steve found profound happiness in the simple rhythms of life. He was a dedicated avid bird and animal lover, often seen tending to the creatures that visited his yard, ensuring they were well-fed and cared for. He possessed a hopeful heart, famously playing the lottery a testament to his optimistic outlook and love for a good story.
Perhaps Steve's greatest legacy was the quiet impact he had on those immediately around him. He was truly loved by his neighbors, a close-knit community that looked out for him with the same genuine affection he showed them. His presence was a comfort to his block, and his absence leaves a void in the neighborhood fabric.
Steve's greatest pride was his family. Though he was a quiet man, his devotion to his siblings and the younger generations was evident. He is survived by:
His Siblings: Michael (Patti) Williams, Danny Williams, David Williams, and Marybeth (Bruce) Harbecke.
His Nieces and Nephews: Jamie Williams, Steven Michael Williams, Brandon Harbecke, Ashley Harbecke, and Kolin (Rachel) Harbecke.
His Grand-Nephews: Reylin and Fenix Williams, who brought a special light to his later years.
In accordance with Steve's humble nature, a family memorial graveside service will be held at a future date to celebrate his life and return him to the land he loved so well.
The Williams family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the neighbors and friends who kept a loving eye on Steve over the years. Your kindness allowed him to live his life with independence and dignity.

Kurt & I will miss having Steve right across the street, but the animals will miss him the most. Every dog in a 6 block radius knew Steve and his pocket full of milk bones. And every Squirrel,Bird, and Duck came daily to delight us all. The entire neighborhood will miss Steve, he was a good neighbor. We hope Steve is resting peacefully. Love and condolences to his family.
