It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stuart Glenn Shipp, a beloved teacher and coach, who passed away on March 21, 2025 at the age of 62. Coach Shipp's legacy will live on through the lives he touched through his classrooms, the teams he coached, and the joy he found in music and woodworking.
Stuart was born in Marietta, GA on October 4, 1962, son of the late Randall Gene Shipp and the late Ann Florence Shipp. He was a social studies teacher in Paulding County at Dobbins Middle School and Paulding County High School for several years, coaching softball and women's basketball. Beyond the coaching field, Stuart found immense joy and passion in music and woodworking. He was a guitarist and singer, playing in bands in his younger years and continuing to play and sing in his free time at home in his later years. He did woodworking the majority of his life and has left several works he made as family heirlooms throughout the households of friends and family.
Stuart is survived by his wife: Sharon Shipp; son: Joshua Shipp (Aubrey); aunt: Sue Dollar Henderson; and several other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Hightower's Memorial Chapel on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at the funeral home on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 12:00 PM with Rev. Bryan Alexander and Pastor Daryl Jones officiating.
Interment will follow at Flint Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
