Sue Ellen (Hafliger) (Richards) Kornack, 78 lifelong citizen of Edinburg, IL passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11:08 a.m. at her home in Edinburg, IL. She was born in Taylorville Hospital on October 7, 1945, to Jack and Margaret (Trojack) Hafliger. She lived in Owaneco for 5 years and then moved to Edinburg. She attended Edinburg Schools where she participated in band, cheer leading, 4-h and other activities. She started working at the IGA store in Edinburg and then moved to working at Citizens Bank of Edinburg as a teller. She spent 36 years at the bank working her way up to Loan Officer and she retired in April of 2010. She was a member of the Edinburg Lioness Club and worked on the Labor Day Picnic and parade as well as organizing fundraising events to finance events like 4th of July fireworks and Labor Day Entertainment. She enjoyed working with people and interacting with them. Sue loved to travel and attend grandkids sporting events, birthdays and holidays.
Sue is survived by her husband: Joseph Kornack of Edinburg, Sons: Jeff (Penny) Richards, Bill (Kristina) Richards, Grandchildren: Blake (Heather), Jett, Elle, and Kailynn; Great-Grandchildren: Harper and Whitney; Sister: Diane (David) Aldridge, Brother: Jack (Belinda) Hafliger and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grandson: Preston Scott Richards and her brother: David.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, IL.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
