Sue Oleshak Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Sue (McCloskey) Oleshak, of Corning, NY, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer.

Sue was a talented quilter who took great joy in crafting blankets to welcome new family members and to honor special family occasions, such as graduations and weddings. During the summer months, she could often be found at the cherished family cottage on Keuka Lake, her happiest moments occurring when it was filled with loved ones. Sue was warm and outgoing, frequently striking up conversations with strangers, especially if they had a dog with them. She adored all dogs and was often seen accompanied by one of her own large, lively hounds circling her feet.

Sue's greatest source of pride was her role as a mother, wife, and mother-in-law. Her steadfast presence and deep love for her family will leave an enduring void.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Oleshak; sons, Andy Yeager and Cory Yeager; daughter-in-law, Amy Yeager; stepdaughters, Jennifer and Jessica Oleshak; step-grandchildren, Jadelise, Michael, Eliana, William, and Phoenix; siblings, Linda (John) Martin, Paul (Kim) McCloskey, and Mary Beth Turner; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Norman and Gladys McCloskey.

A casual celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 27th, from 12-4pm, at the South Corning American Legion, 8 River Rd, Corning, NY.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of Sue's favorite charities, Tunnel to Towers or St. Jude's (see online link below on website).
