Ron was born in Corning, NY on June 18, 1934, the son of Richard and Adelma (Case) BeGell. He graduated from Northside High School. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Corning Natural Gas Company in 1994 after 27 years.
He had 30 years of volunteer service with the Caton Fire Department, which includes serving as a board of director for the department. Ron joined the Lions Club in February of 1981. He was district governor in 1996-97. He was in the club until 2022 (41 years). He was instrumental in helping to create the Pantry of Angels.
Ron is survived by his wife, Kathy VanEtten; three daughters, Cheryl (Gerry) GrosJean, Carole Bass, and Suzanne (Tony) tenWestinine; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents; his brother, Richard BeGell II; and sister, Janet (BeGell) Wilson.
A private graveside service will be held at Hope Cemetery in Corning, NY, where he will be laid to rest.
