Sue Allaruthe Zint (nee Smith) 90, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, in her home. Sue retired after 40 years teaching. She opened her first preschool facility, Alphaland, in Highland Heights in 1977. It immediately filled. Her second opened several years later in Alexandria. She had a love for children and their well-being and over the years nurtured hundreds of children, including her own. After retiring, she worked for H&R Block for several years. She was a member of Cold Spring Baptist Church until moving to Alexandria. She then returned to her childhood church, Grant's Lick Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Zint, her parents, Charles, and Della Smith (nee Staton); her three sisters, Wilda Sotomayer, Justina Graziani, Wanda Pierce; and two brothers, Benjamin Smith, and Douglas Smith. She is survived by her children, Debby (Jerry) Dempsey, Carla (Tony) Gruelle, Candy Hasenstab, Penny (Tim) Muench, David (Kim) Zint, 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Grant's Lick Baptist Church, 941 Clay Ridge Rd. Alexandria, KY 41001 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with the funeral service following at 6:00 PM. Interment will be the following day, attended by family only. Memorials are suggested to Grant's Lick Baptist Church. Alexandria Funeral Home oversees arrangements, online condolences can be given at alexandriafh.com.
