Dr. Sunder Mansukhani, 94 Passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025 Dr. Sunder Mansukhani, 94, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on January 14, 1931, in Hyderabad Sindh, India, to parents Putli Shahani and Dr. Hashmatrai Choithram Mansukhani. He lived an extraordinary life rooted in service, intellect, and deep connection to others. The beloved husband of the late Devika Mansukhani of 61 years, Sunder and Devika built a beautiful life together, raising three children and eventually welcoming five cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Together, they were the proud parents of Kiron (John) Golden of Coral Gables, FL; Ashwin (Rima) Mansukhani of Marlboro, NJ; and Sharad (Erin) Mansukhani of Moorestown, NJ. He was the proud grandfather of Savannah (and her husband Danny), Grayson, Anika, Jayne, and Grace, and cherished his great-grandchildren Bodhi and Taj. Dr. Mansukani is survived by 3 siblings, Shyam Mansukhani, Indru Mansukhani, Ramesh Mansukhani and predeceased by Ratna Gandhi, Nirmala Mansukhani, and Chandra Mansukhani. Following in his father's footsteps, a self-made man, Dr. Mansukhani's early brilliance set the course for a life of academic and professional distinction. He graduated first in his class from DG Sind College and earned a scholarship to medical school where he needed special permission from the Surgeon General of Bombay to attend given his young age. Eventually Dr. Mansukhani completed his residency and fellowship which brought him to the University of Pittsburgh where he completed his PhD. He emigrated to the United States in 1969, where he devoted his career to healing and advancing the pathology field. A respected physician, he also served as the head of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), championing medical excellence and community support. He is beloved by many former students and scholarship awardees. While his career was defined by accomplishment, Dr. Mansukhani was equally known for his warmth, sociability, and curiosity. He was an avid reader with a deep love for learning, the arts, and a passion for world travel. Among his favorite places were Peru, France, Italy and Hawaii-destinations that reflected his adventurous spirit and appreciation for culture and beauty. A deeply social person, he cultivated many meaningful friendships over the years and touched the lives of countless people with his intellect, kindness, and charm. Above all, Sunder was a devoted husband, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a treasured friend to many. His life was one of purpose, love, and generosity. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him.
