Susan Baumann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeKalb Funeral Chapel, LLC on Dec. 10, 2025.
Susan Joan Baumann, 73, died peacefully on December 3, 2025, in Hackensack, New Jersey. The oldest of four children, Susan grew up in North Bergen and Union City. She married her high school sweetheart Frederick (Fred) in 1977, and the couple made their home in Secaucus for 48 years. Fiercely loving and equally beloved, Susan possessed a quiet, enduring strength and a steady presence that served as a North Star for her family. She had the courage of her convictions, prioritizing what she thought was right over what would have been convenient. For Lent each year, she gave up her two favorite treats, coffee and chocolate. She loved sweet things of all sorts, and her homemade desserts were the highlights of every family gathering. A meteorology hobbyist, Susan was an avid weather observer and forecaster. She worked most recently as assistant property manager at Harmon Cove in Secaucus. She is survived by her beloved husband and soulmate Fred, brother Michael and sister Carol (Greg), sisters-in-law Barbara and Patty, brothers-in-law Thomas and Joseph (Debbie), and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents and parents-in-law, sister Linda, sister-in-law Rose, brother-in-law Jerry, and sister-in-law Charlotte. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 15,2025, at Wilson County Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, TN. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the John Theurer Cancer Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Baumann family.
