Susan Marie Bell, age 55, of Spruce Pine, went to her eternal rest on Thursday, September 4th, 2025 at Mission Hospital. A native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Thomas "Tom" Meemken and Doris Eva Meemken.
Susan was a spiritual soul who found beauty in the simplicity of life. In her younger years, she expressed her creative side by knitting and crafting. She was fascinated with all cat-related things, including her furry feline companion "Google." Music from the 1980's was her favorite genre, and she was particularly fond of Prince and Def Leppard. Susan enjoyed spending time with friends whom she considered family. They would often attend plays at Parkway Playhouse. Susan was an avid post card trader and found great joy in both sending and receiving postcards from various places around the world. She was a gifted writer, pouring her heart into fiction, poetry, and short stories. She also played a vital role in the Mayland Writers Group, where she inspired, encouraged, and uplifted fellow writers with her passion and dedication.
Her greatest love in life was spending time with her husband, Christopher. During the early years of their marriage, she and Chris lived in various areas of the eastern United States. They spent time in places like Georgia and Florida before settling down in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. They fell in love with the area and found this region to be home. Quality time together was important to the both of them. Susan and Chris shared a love for watching movies and reading. Her favorite author was Stephen King, and her love of mystery and horror crossed over into his love of sci-fi and fantasy.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 33 years, Christopher "Chris" Perry Bell; and special friends: Kim Bradford and Royce Laney. Several extended family members also survive.
Per Susan's wishes, no services are planned at this time. Her husband encourages all who knew her to share memories of Susan on her tribute wall by visiting the funeral home website at www.yanceyfuneralservice.com.
