Susan J. Deignan, age 63, longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Terrence J. Deignan, Sr.
She was born in Lowell, on December 26, 1961, the daughter of the late Francis W. and Jacqueline (Almeida) Britton.
Susan was raised in Lowell, and moved to Chelmsford when she married her husband, Terry. Susan worked in education for most of her life, and she found her job as a paraeducator for visually impaired students to be very rewarding. She was an active person her entire life and met some of her closest friends through her interest in running. She loved vacations with her family; some of her best memories were spending time at the "Maine House" together, sitting around the fire, swimming, boating, and hanging out on the dock. She loved to spend time at the beach in Seabrook and had great memories of laying out on the beach, playing bocci ball, and playing cards as a family at night. Susan loved to spend time with her family and friends, and was always meeting a friend for coffee, going for a walk with her brother, or taking trips to see her daughter in Vermont. She looked forward to occasions when family could be together. As a mother, Susan was very supportive of her children. Her life was dedicated to their sporting events and activities in their childhood. As they got older, she never forgot to send a card or phone call with encouragement for an upcoming event, and was always planning visits or get-togethers. She will be greatly missed by her family. Susan always had a strong connection with her faith, which brought her comfort in the years leading up to her death. It brings her family comfort to know that Susan hoped to be reunited with her husband and parents again after she passed.
Susan is survived by her children TJ Deignan of Chelmsford, Colleen and Alex Budney of Randolph, VT, and Michael Deignan of Worcester, as well as her siblings Frankie and Kelly Britton of Hampton, NH, Karen and Brian Moriarty of Lowell, and Tim Britton of Lowell. Susan is also survived by her sister-in-Law Jayne Willman of NC, her sister-in-law Katie and husband Steve Beausoleil of NH, brother-in-law Tim and wife Gini Deignan of MA, and brother-in-law Billy and wife Linda Deignan of MA. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as a very close group of friends that she cared for greatly.
She is predeceased by her husband Terry Deignan and her parents, Francis and Jacqueline Britton.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 10am at Immanuel Church, 301 Boston Road, Chelmsford. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery, Lowell.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Susans memory to the Immanuel Church, 301 Boston Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
