DUFF, Susan E., age 83, of Franklin, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. Susan graduated from Waynesville High School but was able to travel and live in Florida, Maine, and North Carolina.
As a huge proponent of education combined with her entrepreneur spirit, she was always learning and striving to achieve. Susan was a beautician, Realtor, substitute teacher, LPN, hotel dining-catering-banquet manager, and ultimately, business owner and president of Measurement Systems Inc. and president of Anova. She also spent considerable time volunteering for numerous groups. Most notably, she served on several committees at the First United Methodist Church in Middletown and volunteered and worked at Atrium Hospital for several years.
Hardworking, loving, giving, selfless, and professional, Susan was a lady who lived with class and grace. She always presented an elegant persona wherever she went. She loved everyone she met and especially enjoyed the hostess role during social events. She enjoyed the tradition of going out with her high school classmates each month and hosting family at her home during the major holidays. She loved celebrating with friends and family. Her other hobbies included crocheting and cross-stitching, sketching, and reading. She collected Snowbabies figurines and David Winter Cottages. Among many things, she will be remembered as a single mom who fought for equal wages and treatment for women and always wanted more for her daughter than for herself.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. O. Lee Duff; her parents, Wilbur and Geraldine Simison; and one sister, Beverly Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Tuesday Campbell-Nisewonder (Shane); granddaughter, Rylee Nisewonder-Woods (Jonathan); great-granddaughter, Layla; step-daughter, Shawn (John) Intorcio, and her sons, Joshua and Jacob; step-son, Scott (Susan) Duff, and his children, Sarah, Pete, and Kim; and three nieces, Cindy Walthers, Robin Welch, and Debbie Selhorst.
The family will receive friends 11 AM – Noon on Saturday, February 3, at the First United Methodist Church, 120 S. Broad Street, Middletown, Ohio. A memorial service and luncheon will immediately follow at Noon on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. A personal family celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 5, with additional family services on Tuesday, February 6. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 W. 44th Street, Suite 609, NY, NY 10036. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
