Susan Louise Helgeson, age 82, passed away on February 3, 2024. Born on June 25, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Robert Cornell and Vera Elizabeth (nee Johnson) Helgeson. Beloved mother of Samantha and Wayne Scott. Cherished grandmother of Hannah Scott, Grace (nee Scott) Haas, Lydia Scott, Abigail Scott, Naomi Scott, Sophia Scott, Jubilee Scott, Casper Miller, and great grandmother of Malachi Haas. Dear sister of the late Ann Helgeson.
Susan dedicated her life to academia, earning her doctorate and serving as an esteemed English Professor. She touched the lives of countless students with her passion for literature and learning. After leaving academia, Susan went on to work in marketing for an oil exploration company in Texas and traveled all over the world as a result. Outside of her professional life, Susan was an avid reader whose love for books enriched her own life and the lives of those around her. Her compassion extended beyond the world of literature. Susan was deeply involved in rabbit rescue efforts, demonstrating her empathy and commitment to animal welfare.
