Susan Beth Komisar Hausman, 66, formerly of Fairfield, CT and Stoughton, MA, died peacefully Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in Boston, MA, surrounded by her loving daughter and devoted husband and caregivers.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, Susan was the daughter of loving parents, Harold 'Heshie' and Joan Komisar and beloved granddaughter of Jeanette Fisher. She was the beloved and dedicated wife for 39 years of Rabbi Jonathan Hausman and loving mother of Jacqueline Hausman. In addition, she is survived by devoted brother Stephen Komisar along with cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
After growing up in her beloved Fairfield, Susan walked over the bridge at UPenn while visiting, fell in love and attended the University of Pennsylvania. She managed the Quadgrille, sang, and majored in History as she loved American history like her father. Following graduation, she returned to CT and worked for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and was part of the team that assembled the White House Record Collection – just as MTV debuted the music video genre. She pursued Accounting, working in the field for several years.
Susan was a life member of Jewish Women International (JWI), Hadassah, Women's Auxiliary of Jewish Senior Services and Jewish Federation Community Relations Commission (a true love of mission and people). She served as Ahavath Torah Congregation's Sisterhood President. She spent 10 years as a UPenn Secondary Committee member interviewing high school applicants.
Susan founded and ran her own company, No Secrets No Shame LLC, focusing on educating adults regarding child sexual abuse prevention – her true calling. She spearheaded the Old Colony YMCA's Prevention efforts along with Kim Moran. She is the author and illustrator of Kisses from Dolce, truly inspired and dear to her heart.
A wife and mother, Susan always maintained that her daughter was her greatest accomplishment, a gift beyond compare. Her husband's caregiving, in her own words, was incredible as she took ill. The support of her husband's brothers and families meant so much to her. In her words, she was blessed with great love and support not just from her family, but from her legion of friends (as well as many of their children). She loved being "Komi" to her UPenn friends. She loved being called "Auntie Sue" by so many nieces and nephews. It was a true joy to her.
Susan loved visiting her beloved Fairfield. These visits were never complete without time at the beaches (Penfield, Sasco, Southport, and Compo), her calming place. She loved the water. She loved the diners and restaurants, UConn basketball (men's and women's), trips to New York City, the theater, music, singing, playing Mah Jongg, spending time with her family and friends, and chocolate ice cream (her favorite!). Her final charge: "please don't forget me". She will be missed.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road Fairfield, CT, 06824, with interment following at Beth EL Cemetery on Reid Street in Fairfield.
Donations may be directed to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund at Ahavath Torah Congregation (1179 Central Street, Stoughton, MA 02072) for further designation.

I lived across the street from Susan in Fairfield until we left for college. She and I shared the same birthday, except I was a year older. When we were young, we formed a Band called The Blue and Brown Eyed Babes. The group consisted of Sue, Stephen (the blue-eyed members).my younger sister, and myself . We would get together and practice singing. The band didn't last long but it sure puts a smile on my face as I remember Sue.

One additional memory. Sue sang at my wedding, what a beautiful voice, what a beautiful person.
