Susan M. Koonce, affectionately known as
"Momma Sue" to all who adored her, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, in
Austin, Texas. Born on September 9, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Susan's life was as colorful and spirited as her hometown.
Susan attended Louisiana State University. She dedicated many years as a legal assistant where she was a valuable asset to her team and a cherished colleague.
Susan was a woman of many passions. Her love for cooking was legendary and was the heart of many family gatherings. She was an avid gardener and loved crafting and painting, however music held a special place in Susan's heart. She could often be found playing her rub board with local musicians. Her rhythm was as infectious as her laughter. As an enthusiastic sports fan, she loved nothing more than watching sports with her grandsons.
Momma Sue was the matriarch of a loving family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Tara Landry, Laura Reed, and Scranton Twohey. Susan adored her son-in-laws, Windell Landry and Todd Reed. Her legacy continues through her grandsons, Spencer Landry, Harrison and Jackson Reed, Speight and Sohren Twohey, whom she loved beyond measure. She cherished her sister, Jean Koonce Pettit, and brother, Michael Jefferson Koonce. She is preceded in death along side her father William W. Koonce, her Mother Gladys G. Koonce and Brother: William G. Koonce.
As we bid farewell to Momma Sue, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a life rich with love, and laughter. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories that her family and friends will hold dear. Though she has left this earthly realm, Momma Sue's spirit will forever dance in the hearts of those she touched.
Her legacy is a testament to the power of living with an open heart, and it is with profound love and admiration that we honor her memory.
A memorial Service will be held 12:00PM Saturday April 26th, 2025 at Riverbend Church community center.
