SUSAN MEYER Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michaels Funeral Home and Cremation Care on Feb. 23, 2026.
Susan D. Meyer

Resident of Inverness for 30 years

Visitation for Susan "Sue" D. Meyer, 74, will be Friday, February 27 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and Saturday, February 28 from 9:00am – 11:00am at Michaels Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. A Celebration of Life Service will begin Saturday, February 28 at 11:00am at the funeral home.

Sue passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Chicago, surrounded by family and love. Sue brought passion to everyday life and made people feel like they mattered. To know her was to be cared for, encouraged, and welcomed in.

Sue was born on July 29, 1951, in Chicago to the late Ciro and Dana LaMonte. She grew up in Chicago and built a successful career in IT and project management before becoming a consultant specializing in business intelligence. Sue worked full-time throughout her life, but her greatest work was often the kind you don't see on a résumé: she volunteered through local churches, was a Den leader in her son's Scout troops, was heavily involved in the PTO, mentored and championed other professionals, and was a natural connector who spent countless hours supporting job searches and helping people find new opportunities.

Family was the center of Sue's universe. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and she treated everyone she met like family. Sue loved to cook and bake, always experimenting, refining, and perfecting new recipes. She had an eye for fashion and a love of style that took her everywhere, including unforgettable experiences at the Oscars and Golden Globes. She also loved music and dancing, teaching disco and ballroom in her youth and lighting up any dance floor she found.

Sue is the beloved wife of Bruce Meyer for 52 years; loving mother of Michael (Jenn), Matthew (Julia), and Steven (Natalie); cherished grandmother of Cohen, Samantha, Jonas, and Maxine; and dear sister of Barbara. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a friend and mentor to countless others.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sue's memory to Blood Cancer United.
