Susan Moormann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - East Louisville on Oct. 26, 2024.
Susan Moormann, 98, of Louisville passed away peacefully at the Masonic Home of Kentucky on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, the culmination of a fruitful life filled with service.
"Sue" was born on April 28, 1926, to parents Urban Guckes and Susan McDonough Guckes in Cincinnati, OH, where she was raised, and graduated from the University of Cincinnati.
Sue married her husband, Ambrose, in 1948 and moved with him and their four young children to Florida in 1959 when his job with Porter Paints took him to the Sunshine State. The family eventually grew to five children with Sue, Ambrose, and youngest child, Mark, moving to Wichita, Indianapolis, and finally Louisville, where Sue left an indelible mark through her volunteerism. Sue was a fixture at the Eastern Area Community Ministries food bank before serving in several capacities at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, where she was a longtime parishioner. In addition to being the "Monday girl" receptionist at the parish offices, she acted as a surrogate grandparent for students on Grandparents Day at St. Albert the Great School. She also worked with the St. Al's Aces senior organization.
Sue is survived by sons David L. (Carol) of Diamondhead, MS, Jerome "Jerry" J. of St. Petersburg, FL, Mark (Janet) of Hollywood, FL, daughter-in-law Joyce Moormann, son-in-law Thomas Harvey, grandchildren Shannon Weatherby, Chelsea, Nicholas, and Mitchell Moormann. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October, 28, 2024 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Drive, Louisville.
