Susan Plopper

South Bristol – Susan (Whitnall) Plopper, age 75, passed away unexpectedly, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Christopher Plopper; two children, Benjamin (Farah) Plopper and Amy Plopper (Kyle Puetz); three grandchildren, Jordan, Sonora and Lyra; first cousins, Alan, Linda, Dale, Jann and their families.
Sue was born in Utica and was the daughter of Thaddeus and Ruth (Bryan) Whitnall. She was raised in Hamilton, NY, attended Hamilton schools and was a graduate of Hamilton High School, class of 1967. Her grandfather was the former Chairman of the Geology Department at Colgate University in Hamilton and her father, Tad was a graduate of Colgate with a major in Geology. Sue earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology from St. Lawrence University, class of 1971. College is where she met Chris and they were married the day before their graduation in 1971. They lived in Michigan, Washington, Louisiana, California, New Mexico and Texas. Sue's desire was always to return to New York and live on a lake. In 2006, that dream came true and they moved to South Bristol to spend nearly 18 years together, living on a bluff above Canandaigua Lake.
Sue loved live theater. This was a childhood passion, which she not only instilled in Chris, but passed along to Ben and Amy. However, her greatest love was always reserved for her family – especially for her children and grandchildren. Sue was happiest when visiting her children and grandchildren or when they came to spend time at the lake house.
