Susan C. Race
Passed away on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at the age of 61, after a long battle with dementia. Beloved mother of Erica (Marc) Pickering and Sydney (Greg) Katuszonek. Proud grandmother of Willow and Brooke Pickering. Further survived by brothers Randy and Gerald Race and sister Lynda Race. Preceded in death by her parents, Marlin and Nancy Race.
Sue was a graduate of Brookfield East High School (1980). She earned an Economics degree from UWM. Years later, to advance her career, she went back to UWM to earn a degree in Management Information Systems.
Sue shared her love for life and optimism with everyone around her. Her boisterous laugh could be heard from across the room and bring a smile to everyone's face. She shared her passion for travel with her daughters by taking vacations to Hawaii, Jamaica, Disney World, Washington DC and the cabin. Sue cherished spending time with friends, whether it was listening to classic rock, enjoying the state fair, or relaxing in the backyard, where her love for music and good company filled her with happiness. She further spread her love for music by singing to her granddaughter, Willow, and celebrating her every milestone.
Sue was also a devoted daughter and sibling. Every Christmas she helped cook, bake, and shop with her mom to make every holiday special. Growing up, she spent her summers at the cabin with her siblings, a tradition they continued into adulthood.
We are grateful for and comforted by our treasured memories of Sue.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Service will begin at 3:00PM.
