ROPER, Susan Elizabeth

Susan Elizabeth Roper, 89, passed away on August 10, 2025, in Atlanta, GA. Born on March 2, 1936, Susan, also known affectionately as Elizabeth or Liz, led a fulfilling life marked by her genial personality and diverse interests.

After Sylvan Hills High School, Elizabeth first attended Georgia State University, later transferring to UGA. She graduated from the University of Georgia's school of journalism in 1957, where Elizabeth was one of four graduates and notably the only woman. Due to limitations of the era, Elizabeth chose a career in the banking sector where she served as an administrator for many years

Elizabeth was an accomplished pianist. She shared her talents by playing piano, while in fellowship, at Sylvan Hills Baptist Church and most recently at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church. She trained as a distance runner and participated in the annual Peachtree Road Race for many years. She enjoyed daily walks throughout her Sylvan Hills neighborhood, always stopping to share a kind word with neighbors.

Elizabeth is survived by her brother, Carl Tom Roper, Jr., of Port St. Joe, FL. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl T. Roper,;and mother, Margaret Livingston Roper.

A memorial service will be held on August 21, 2025, at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choosing in honor of Elizabeth.
