Susan J. Smith

Susan J. Smith, late of Upper Milford Twp., passed quietly, following a long illness, May 17, 2024. Born Sept 23, 1950 to Dorothy (Masonheimer) Smith and H. Morton Smith of Shimersville, Susan graduated from Emmaus High School and Virginia Intermont College. She returned to the Lehigh Valley to pursue a career in the fine arts and antiques business and simultaneously engaged successfully in the breeding and racing of thoroughbred horses. Susan took great pride in her community serving Upper Milford Twp. faithfully for many years on the planning commission and board of supervisors. Susan was an active supporter of the Upper Milford Council of Republican Women, Upper Milford Western Dist. Fire Co., The Lehigh County Historical Society, the Lower Macungie Twp. Historical Society, the Upper Milford Twp. Historical Society and the Friends of the 1803 House in Emmaus. Susan was a Julia Low Society member of the Girl Scouts of America who enjoyed her teenage years as a Camp Mosey Wood counselor.
Susan is survived by brothers Col. Hunter M. Smith (Ret) (Robin), Peter S. Smith (Sallie), nieces Alexa and Avery (Alfonso), nephew Adam (Meghan) and three great nieces and nephews, Brady, Gaspare, and Alexandra.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with arrangements handled by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Friends of the 1803 House or the Girl Scouts of America.
