E. Susan Smith, 88, of St Charles IL passed away on Monday October 6, 2025. She was born on April 17, 1937 to her parents Roy and Helen Maze.
She loved her family more than herself. She encouraged her children to follow their dreams and never stopped believing in them. She believed that with a good education their dreams were all possible. She sacrificed having a career to be the best mother she could be to her children.
Her grandchildren became her next love and she encouraged them to be strong, loving family members. She always wanted the best for each of them.
She left the hills of Ohio to embrace the opportunities found in Chicago. She never lost her love for the city. Even after 50 years away she still became excited every time she saw the skyline.
She read the Bible every night and prayed for her family every day. She believed God answered prayers and He did answer her prayers for her family many times.
She loved to travel, read, and discuss life while drinking green tea.
She is survived by her children; Zane (Joan) Smith, Mark Smith, and Julie (Ron) Johnson; her grandchildren Evan, Nicholas, and Jackie Smith, and Kelsey (Adam) Livingston; her great-grandchildren, Levi and Lucas Livingston.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ernest Smith.
A visitation will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home; 100 S. 3rd Street, St Charles IL 60174 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. A burial will follow at Union Cemetery in St. Charles IL
