SUSAN STECKLEY, age 66, of Athens TN. passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. A native of Michigan and current resident of McMinn County she is the daughter of the late Merland Tyrrell and Greta Yoder.
Susan was a wonderful wife, Mom, and Nana. Over the years she and her husband have enjoyed motorcycling, boating, live music shows, and riding around in their sports car.
Susan and her husband met at the age of 15 and have been in love ever since.
She started working in 1979 and has been in the newspaper industry, retiring in 2021
She is preceded in death by Grand-daughter, Lily Steckley; Brother, Randy Tyrrell; Mother-in-law and father-in-law, Don and Kathy Steckley.
Survivors:
Husband of 47 years, John Steckley; Son, Jason (Brittany) Steckley; 4 Grandchildren, Jenna Steckley, Cooper Steckley, Harper Steckley and Beckett Steckley; 2 Sisters, Brenda (Timothy) Mott, Linda (Dan) Cole.
2 Sisters-in-law, Janelle Steckley (Terry Ashcraft), and Sue Steckley.
Numerous Nieces and Nephews
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 12, 2025 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00-2:00PM prior to the service. In leiu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation. https://www.helpfightra.org/donations/
