Date of Death: August 19, 2025
Date of Birth: July 17, 1942
Suzanne F Christensen passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Bolster Heights Residential Care Facility in Auburn, Maine. Sue was born on July 17, 1942 in Lewiston, Maine.
She was predeceased by her parents Orland and Hazel Fields, her brother Orland (Bub) Fields, and her daughter Wendy Burgess.
She worked for the Department of Transportation for many years, retiring in 2006. At the same time,
she also worked for Winner's Circle OTB for several years. After her retirement she worked a part time
job at Shop N Save in Gray. Sue also ran money for the tellers in the infield to the money room at the
Fryeburg Fair for several years; a job she absolutely loved.
She was a proud member of the Maine Harness Horseman's Association and the Maine Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association.
Sue loved harness racing and finally made a dream come true by buying a Standardbred horse Grandma Finn. She was very proud of her and loved to watch her race. Her proudest moment was when Grandma Finn was named Horse of the Year.
Sue is survived by her former husband and good friend Jim Christensen, her sister Donna Smiley and her
husband Hazen, many beloved nieces and nephews, and dear friends Julie Strout and Linda Lelansky.
Sue's sunny smile and always cheerful demeanor will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the employees and residents of Bolster Heights for all the love and care
Sue received.
A memorial service will be held at Funeral Alternatives, 25 Tampa St in Lewiston, on Monday, August 25 at 11:00am.
